The Ministry in its current form was formed in 1887, under the orders of King Chulalongkorn the Great, to create a permanent military command. This was a result of the increasing threat Western powers were having on the country. The actual Ministry was housed in an old horse and elephant stable, opposite the Grand Palace. A new European style building was however build to house it. At first the Ministry only commanded the Army (founded in 1847), it then incorporated the Navy (founded in 1887) and finally the Air Force (founded in 1913). In 1914, King Vajiravudh determined that the Act providing for invoking martial law, first promulgated by his father in 1907, was not consistent with modern laws of war or convenient for the preservation of the external or internal security of the State, so changed to the modern form that, with minor amendments, continues to be in force. The Ministry of Defence   is a Cabinet level government department of the Kingdom of Thailand.

It’s decorated with a unique style according to its owner “Kenzo Takada”, a Japanese designer the owner of Kenzo Paris brand. I recommend you to order “Gingerbread honey macchiato “because it is a coffee that taste very soft and not too bitter. Its cost 140 bath. A “Caramel Butterscotch Latte” is also good. It got a taste of coffee more than the previous one. Its cost 150 bath.

There are the other things that might impress you went you came here. On the sixth floor, there is an Embassy Cinema which is a very luxurious cinema which is cost 1000 bath per seat. It’s decorated with a gold color which means to “Luxury” and “High class”. On the opposite side of the cinema is a part that is still closing but there is a graffiti painting on the wall that make me very curious. It’s may be a new gallery that is not finish yet. The other things that very interest is a bank because it is decorated with a more luxury than other bank. There is a Siam Commercial Bank in the underground floor. It decorate with an old but classic style even the ATM are look very cool. There is a cage in front of the counter. It remind me of a classic movies. The other bank that set place in here is Bualuang bank which located in a third floor. It main color use to be blue but in here every things is all gold. Even the employee is wearing a brown-gold suit instead of blue. Not only a bank but a telecom is also decorate with a luxury style. AIS is the look the best in here. There symbol and name are made of diamonds.

For my conclusion, this place is very beautiful. There are a lot of things that you can take a picture. For example; restaurant, café, structure, and decoration. My best one is a Teddy Bear of Harrods. It is a very big bear with a lot of costume. It is not fully complete yet. There are some place that still closing. To shopping in here you must have a lot of money in your pocket because every things in here is very expensive. For the transportation is easy because it close to the BTS sky trains. Hualamphong Railway Station

Hualamphong Railway Station

Hualamphong Railway Station - Royal State Railway of Siam (RSE) was conceived by the British company Punchard McTaggart Lowther and Co. In 1887, While the first line to Korat was constructed by British engineer G. Murray Campbell, with rail service commencing in 1894.

The next place that I recommend everyone to go is Hua lamphong Station which is the main railway station in Bangkok.First, let get some information from this place.Hualumphong was opened on June 25, 1916 which mean this station have been opened for almost 100 years.Everyone in Thailand whether children or old know this station well because it stand by Thailand for a long long time.

The station was built in an Italian Neo-Renaissance-style, with decorated wooden roofs and stained glass windows. The architecture is attributed to Turin-born Mario Tamagno, who with countryman Annibale Rigotti(1870–1968) was also responsible for the design of several other early 20th century public buildings in Bangkok. So the station was decorated in old style which is very beautiful and make us think about the past.

Thailand is the only country that old trains are used for main transportation. In my opinion,I think this station should stand along with Thai people all the way because we affiliate with this station since we are young. For me , I have been travel by train many times in my life. When our family want to go to other province we always used the trains.

There are 14 platforms, 26 ticket booths, and two electric display boards. Hua Lamphong serves over 130 trains and approximately 60,000 passengers each day. Since 2004 the station has been connected by an underground passage to the MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit) subway system's Hua Lamphang Station. And this make it easier to come to Hualamphong station because the mrt has extensive connection around Bangkok.Lastly, I would recommend all of you to go to this place once in a life time if you come to Bangkok you will palpate with the old mephitis of the trains and that will make you travel back in time. So good luck all of you and I hope you enjoy the trip in Thailand.

Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall

Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall

I suggest you to come to Ananta Samakhom because it is one of history places in Thailand. It is a huge and very beautiful throne hall. Also it has a very good weather. Ananta SamaKhom Throne Hall - Located next to Dusit Garden, Anant Samakhom Throne Hall was commenced in 1907. The lavish building is a masterpiece of Italian Renaissance and neo-classical architecture in Bangkok.

The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall  is a former reception hall within Dusit Palace in Bangkok, Thailand. It now serves as a museum and is from time to time employed for certain state occasions. One year after the completion of the Amphorn Satharn Villa within the Dusit Palace in 1906, King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) commissioned the construction of a reception hall to replace the one built during the reign of King Mongkut (Rama IV.). The building in Italian Renaissance and Neo Classic style was commissioned to the architects Mario Tamagno and Annibale Rigotti. Marble from Carrara, Italy, and other foreign materials were used. Italian sculptor Vittorio Novi, who would later also work on the Mahadthai udthit Bridge , was employed with his nephew Rudolfo Nolli
The Throne Hall is a two storey construction with a large dome (49.5 m high) in the centre, surrounded by six smaller domes. The domes and walls are covered with paintings by Professor Galileo Chini and Carlo Riguli depicting the history of the Chakri Dynasty, from the first to the sixth reign. King Chulalongkorn died in 1910 and the building was finally completed in 1915.
It was used as the headquarters of the People's Party during the four days of the 1932 Revolution (June 24–27), which transformed the country's political system from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional one. The first National People's Assemblyconvened on June 28, 1932 in this throne hall. After that, it was used as the Parliament House until 1974 when the new Parliament House was opened to the north. However, the old Parliament House is still used for the State Opening of Parliament marking the first assembly in consequence of a general election for the House of Representatives.
Otherwise it is open to the public every day except on Chulalongkorn Day (23 October), the King's birthday (5 December) and the Queen's birthday (12 August).
In front of the Hall is the Royal Plaza with the equestrian statue of King Chulalongkorn(Rama V).

East Asiatic Company Warehouses

East Asiatic Company Warehouses

Opening hours: 5pm to midnight

East Asiatic Company Warehouses - King Rama 5 had the idea to develop maritime trade along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok.

Back in the 1900s, during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, Asian countries were under threat of invasion from the European superpowers. With great foresight, King Chulalongkorn took the initiative to raise Siam to the level of leading countries of the world and decided to establish relations with Denmark. Included in this process was the construction of a pier belonging to the East Asiatic Company, a business dedicated to the export of teak wood and owned by Mr. Hans Nille Andersen, a Danish national. This pier signaled the beginning of international trade between the Kingdom of Siam (the former name of Thailand) and European nations and was the key to Siam maintaining the sovereignty and independence it enjoys to this day.

Asiatique The Riverfront is a large open-air mall in Bangkok, Thailand. It is situated in the former docks of the East Asiatic Company, and faces the Chao Phraya River and Charoen Krung Road. The complex opened in 2012 after extensive renovation of the site.

Today, that same area which the East Asiatic pier occupies is being restored to its original glory under the name “ASIATIQUE The Riverfront,” the first and the biggest lifestyle project in Asia on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, and soon to become Bangkok’s trendiest landmark. Asiatique is located on Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok's Bang Kho Laem District, facing the Chao Phraya River. It and occupies 30 rai (4.8 hectares (12 acres)) of land, with plans for future expansion to include a total of 72 rai (11.52 hectares (28.5 acres)) of mixed-use development. The mall, featuring a historical theme from the period of King Chulalongkorn's reign (1868–1910), operates as an open-air night market and is open daily from 17:00 to 24:00. It features 1,500 shops and stalls and 40 restaurants, most of which are housed in the former warehouses. Other historical buildings and objects include an old sawmill and a World-War-II bomb shelter. There is an working recreation of Bangkok's former tram system, and the site is decorated with bronze statues representing maritime activity. Performing venues for the Joe Louis Traditional Thai Puppet Theatre and the Calypso Cabaret show are also located here, as well as Asiatique Sky, the tallest Ferris wheel in Bangkok at 60 metres (200 ft)

Asiatique opened on 27 April 2012, and has been observed to fulfil a replacement role for the previously popular Suan Lum Night Bazaar, which had closed down in 2010. It is reachable by road (with a parking capacity of 2,000 cars) and by boat, with shuttle services from Sathon Pier. It is managed by Riverside Masterplan Co.,Ltd., a subsidiary of TCC Land.

How to get there: By boat. Take the BTS (skytrain) to Saphan Taksin station. Then walk to the river. There you can get on a free ferry boat to Asiatique The Riverfront – it’s about 15 minutes and you get to enjoy the nice view of the Chao Phraya river. The boat leaves from the Saphan Taksin station every 15 minutes, starting at 4:30 p.m. and the last boat leaves from the Asiatique pier back to Saphan Thaksin at 11:30 p.m. It’s best to avoid going by taxi, because the road that leads there suffers from chronic trafficjamitis.

Equestrian Statue King Rama 5

Equestrian Statue King Rama 5

I have been to King Rama 5 Monument on last Friday in the morning. This place is located in front of Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall in Dusit Palace, Dusit, Bangkok.
On 24 June 1932, the plaza and the throne hall witnessed one of the most important events in Thai history as the People's Party staged a bloodless revolution that transformed the country from absolute monarchy to democratic constitutional monarchy. The plaza was the rally site for People's Party supporters demanding the constitution. The first permanent constitution was ceremoniously granted in the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall on 10 December 1932. Next to the plaza is Amporn Garden, the venue of the annual Red Cross Fair. Dusit Zoo is also located near the plaza. At the center of the plaza is the Equestrian Statue of King Chulalongkorn Rama V, the Great Beloved King. King Chulalongkorn is revered as the man who elevated Thailand’s status in the world by abolishing slavery and forming strong allegiances with the world’s then ‘superpowers’ - Britain, France, America and Russia. Over the years, many Thai’s respect for their former monarch has grown to a point where he is now the object of worship.

There is a firm belief in the former king’s ability to bring good fortune, especially to those in business. Devotees place candles and incense sticks at the foot of the statue and leave gifts of flowers and brandy – the monarch’s favourite drink – in the hope their prayers will be answered. Tuesday (the day Chulalongkorn was born) sees most activity with countless people lost in prayer around the statue.  The king actively pursued a policy of “modernizing” the country and had a number of Europeans in his service to oversee such projects as the building of the first railway in Thailand.

On October 23 of every year, a national holiday, people from all walks of life pay homage to this great king by laying wreaths at his Equestrian Statue setting up at the Royal Plaza. there will be the people of the more they came to one of the offerings in the equestrian statue was always, especially in the night on Tuesday, and on his birthday of him with the belief that will be ombudsman to wait for an audience King Rama 5 by the at 4 p.m. and he will come, and his throne at the Equestrian Statue in the most popular with some of the offering is a rose, pink with the belief that roses that is the beauty and the thorn sharply.
The best time to witness this activity around the statue is early evening, just after dark. The statue is at the edge of Lumpimi Park, directly opposite Silom MRT station. The nearest BTS station is Saladaeng.  These buses will take you close to the park such as Bus number: 2, 25, 38, 40, 48, 93    Air-conditioned bus number: 1, 2, 8, 11, 13, 38.
